THE POODLE

HISTORY

The poodle may have originated in France, Germany or Russia, but there is no evidence to substantiate the breed's origin, and where seen in many countries around 1553.

Originally used as a retrieving/hunting dog, constantly in and out of rivers and lakes, the forerunners of today's poodle had dense waterproof coats. This coat was an impediment and was trimmed accordingly, to enable freedom of movement in the  water while leaving enough coat for protection of their vital organs

The poodle craves human companionship and is never happier than with his guardian, and will follow them around the house.
